Dave and Su Kay Join

Su and David (DK) Kay joined Lacuna Kites on Dec 1st, 2022, and have taken over the design, manufacturing, and distribution of this well-known South African kite brand. This dynamic duo have been in the kite industry for two decades and have poured their love and passion into every brand they have worked for.

Jason van der Spuy takes us on a journey to his 2nd place position in the biggest kite competition in the world to date - the WOO Worlds 2021. It all started when Woo announced that they will be having a global championships for who can jump the highest. The rules were simple an anyone in the world could compete.

The world was turned upside down due to Covid 19 and one of the many consequences of Covid 19 was the closure of all beaches. This was many kitesurfers worst nightmare come true, but Jason van der Spuy and a few friends decided to capitalize and went on a road trip up the notorious coast line of South Africa.

We are excited to announced Lacuna Kites rider Jason van der Spuy has made the final list of riders for the Red Bull King of the Air 2020 event. No easy task as there are many video entries of top-class riders. These video entries showcase riders’ ability to perform some of the most death-defying tricks at incredible heights.

At the 2025 WOO Worlds, Su Kay, co-owner and chief kite designer of Lacuna Kites, set a personal record with a 25.2 m jump, earning 1st place in the Women’s Highest Jump discipline and securing 3rd all-time on WOO for women—an extraordinary achievement at 49 years old.
