FINS AND WASHERS

Fins are an often-overlooked part of gear, but they can make a huge difference in how your kiteboard responds and how a rider progresses. Like bindings, the style and size of fins is often a matter of preference to suit a kiteboarder’s riding style, level of riding and progression goals. Fin washers are also not universally used on kiteboards, however here at Lacuna we believe they add durability to kiters gear and also simplicity in the hardware required for mounting of accessories on the board.

LONG BASE GFN FINS & DOG BONE FIN WASHERS

Type of Rider Fins are essentially there to keep your board tracking straight. Taller fins that feel more locked in will be good for the riders who are learning to go up wind and those who struggle to keep their boards tracking straight. Smaller fins make for a looser feeling board that can be pushed around and are less likely to trip a rider up in chop or on a miss-timed landing. Rider Level Beginner to Advanced Size Options 35 & 45mm x 150mm Performance The long base on the Lacuna GFN fins enable the fins to retain a large surface area while reducing the likely hood of the fins tripping the rider up in choppy conditions. The Dogbone washers add strength to the fins connection to the board by spreading the load, so that if you accidentally impact an obstacle you reduce the chance of damaging the board. The M6x16mm screws are the same as those used for the bindings and the handle on your Lacuna boards, so you will always have a spare if needed. The slotted option on the screw means that if you do have a screw that is loosening off you can even use a piece of shell to temporarily tighten it till you have access to the right tool.
